Greedy Photographers

Nothing annoys me more than wannabe photographers or unscrupulous so-called model agencies who encourage girls to pursue a career in modeling (and in particular Fashion modeling) when they are clearly unsuitable. For instance, I've lost count of the amount of girls I have met who are under 5ft 8in, over weight and unfortunately don't have the looks to get into Fashion. Fashion is fiercely competitive and the minimum height requirement is 5ft 8in for girls. It isn't fair I know, but that is what the industry dictates. Girls under 5ft 8in don't stand any chance in the 'real world' of Fashion. But there are a lot of fake model agencies and photographers who give girls false hope, just to make a quick buck.

Being told that you are not suitable is never easy to hear, but it does save many girls from a lot of unnecessary heartache and wasted time. It's not easy, but I'd much prefer to tactfully tell a girl the truth rather than lie, just to get my hands on her hard earned cash.

Best Photography Lighting - Studio or Ambient?

It's a glorious sunny day in Manchester, a real change from the miserable wet weather we're used to having. As a Photographer, I'm used to shooting on location and in the studio. I tend to take my studio lights everywhere with me and I love having a travel pak which can last for up to 800 shots. I'm wondering though, what kind of lighting do most photographers prefer, given the chance? Do most togs prefer shooting with the best lights available, or given half the chance are they happy to get out in the sun in an exotic location and shoot in ambient light?

I know I've had fantastic results from both, but nothing beats shooting on a hot beach with just the sun to light the way. I love it and just can't get enough! Sadly here in Manchester, those kind of days are far and few between, so I'm getting out today and making the most of it!

Let's hope this weather lasts!
